2007 News

26th September. CPRE South East publishes its "Water Resource Strategy for the South East of England". CPRE South East says that the government must recognise the environmental limits on water supply and for the water industry must increase water efficiency, including reuse and recycling of water.

20th September. Mayor fails first test in meeting London's housing needs. CPRE has responded to the Mayor’s proposal, pointing out that it conflicts with statutory commitments in the Mayor’s own planning policy document, the London Plan, and represents a failure in his statutory duty towards the sustainable development of London and neighbouring regions.

11th September. CPRE Sussex is campaigning to include the western Weald in the South Downs National Park. Please sign the online petition.

5th September. CPRE SE eBulletin on the Inspectors Report: "there should be no doubt that this report will deliver increased urban sprawl while failing to tackle the problems of housing affordability, and will lead to worsened congestion that will ultimately constipate the economy."

29th August. The Inspectors Report on the South Plan published. "South East housing threatens an unsustainable course".
